Work Atom
Also: canonical atom, production atom
A work atom is the smallest canonical unit of production work defined by XPMS: one discrete, repeatable piece of work with a stable identity and a full specification. Each atom carries 44 fields in the standard's SSOT Bible, covering identity, phase and department coordinates, dependencies, and crew and compliance requirements, so the same atom can be scheduled, priced, and audited the same way on every project. XPMS 2.5 defines 406 canonical atoms. The ATLVS ecosystem seeds new organizations with the atom catalog as their starter task and asset vocabulary, and ties tasks and budget lines back to atoms.
