Gate Scan
Also: check-in, scan-in
Gate scan is the single most time-sensitive operation at a live event: a credential or ticket presents at the gate, scans against the manifest, and resolves to accepted, denied, voided, or used in under a hundred milliseconds. Modern gate scanners run as offline-first mobile apps so they keep working when venue cellular drops; scans queue locally and replay in order when signal returns. Race conditions (the same ticket presenting at two gates) resolve atomically — every ticket scans exactly once.
