Request for Information (RFI)
Also: request for information
A Request for Information — RFI — is a formal, tracked question raised during production: a contractor asks a producer for clarification on scope, a vendor asks for a spec confirmation, a producer asks a venue for an access detail. Each RFI has a recipient (ball-in-court), a clock (due date), and an official answer that becomes part of the project record. Construction projects pioneered the RFI pattern; live-event production borrows it for fabrication, scenic, and major build-outs.
