Near-Miss
Also: close call
A near-miss is an event with potential for harm — a falling object that didn't hit anyone, an unsecured cable that almost tripped a crew member, an electrical issue caught before contact — that didn't result in injury or property damage. Robust safety cultures capture near-misses at higher rates than recordable incidents because they're the leading indicator. Each near-miss is an opportunity to fix a structural risk before it costs someone.
