Certificate of Insurance (COI)
Also: certificate of insurance, liability cert
A Certificate of Insurance, or COI, is the document a vendor submits to prove they carry general liability, auto liability, workers' compensation, and umbrella coverage at the limits a venue or producer requires. COIs name the producer or venue as additional insured and list policy effective and expiration dates. Production teams gate purchase orders behind a current COI: if the cert is expired, the PO blocks.
